video: take-off from Congonhas airport
Posted by: | CommentsWhile I’m away on holidays I’m posting two videos of my own filmed at Congonhas airport in São Paulo. Today’s video shows the take-off manouvre on a westward direction, flying above the skyscrappers of Moema neighbourhood.

videos: landing in Fortaleza
Posted by: | CommentsWe will be landing in Fortaleza today on our video section.
The long video contains the full approach to the airport. It’s quite interesting as it allows a view of a substantial amount of Fortaleza sights. Right at the beginning, the plane is approaching Fortaleza from the southeast and we see it flying above the Praia do Futuro. Later it flies above the sea again and we see the whole extension of Fortaleza’s seafront, with all its urban beaches, its skyscrappers and top hotels. At the end, a 180 turn to approach the runway coming from the west.
On a similar approach I took some aerial pictures of Fortaleza like the one below.

videos: landing in Florianopolis
Posted by: | CommentsThe video section of D Vuelos flies today to the popular destination of the island of Florianópolis.
The airplane is approaching the airport from the east. Right at the beginning of the film you can see Armação beach and a few seconds later, the Lagoa do Peri and Campeche. Passangers sitting on the right side of the plane must have had a wonderful view of tiny Campeche island. What you see at the end of the runway, beyond the water, is the continent.
The approach route to Florianópolis airport as seen from above:

videos: landing in Paraty
Posted by: | CommentsThe incredibly beautiful Paraty is our destination today in the video section of D Airfare. Few people have been lucky enough to land in Paraty, as the small-size airport only accomodates small aircraft. The plane is approaching the runway from the east, flying above the Paraty bay. Around 1:10 you can see on the right hand side the pier from where boat trips depart. The historic centre of Paraty is to the right of the pier.

videos: landing in Foz de Iguazu
Posted by: | CommentsWe visit today in the video section of D Airfare one of the best-known tourist destinations not only in Brazil but in all of South America: the mighty Iguazu Falls. The TAM aircraft from where the video was shot is approaching the runway of Foz de Iguazu airport from the southeast. You will be impressed by the never-ending expanse of rainforest. The river on the film is the Iguazu river. Around minute 1:00 you can guess the location of the falls, where the river bends to the right.

videos: landing in Congonhas airport, São Paulo
Posted by: | CommentsIf we began our series of videos with the landing of an aircraft in that paradise called Fernando de Noronha (videos: landing in Fernando de Noronha), today we want to move on to a radically different landscape but equally spectacular to look at.
It is the final approach to Congonhas airport within the city of São Paulo. The plane is coming from the west, flying above the neighbourhoods of Pinheiros, Itaim Bibi and Moema before landing. It is the most spectacular approach to the airport as at times it feels as if the high-rises were about to touch the wings of the plane.
video: danger on the approach to Guarulhos airport in São Paulo
Posted by: | CommentsWe will certainly make an effort to bring you here at the video section of DAirfare amazing and spectacular images taken from the Brazilian skies. Today, however, we include in this section worrying images of a common practice in a number of large Brazilian cities: the uncontrolled release into the skies of unmanned hot-air balloons laden with fuel and often fireworks too.
The balloons often cross the approach paths of major airports, putting in danger approaching planes. These balloons are released by true morons with the IQ of a famished mosquito. They do so because they know that in the more than unlikely event of them ever being caught, they will just have to pop in at the police precinct to sign some papers, only to be realease immediately.
Our first video today was filmed this week by a Globo news tv crew and it shows an aircraft flying close to a balloon near Guarulhos international airport. The presence of the balloon near the airport airspace forced approaching planes to divert from their routes.
The second video is even more scary and it shows what happens when a balloon laden with fireworks ends up landing right in the middle of the airport.
You don’t need to be very smart to realize this is a tragedy waiting to happen.
videos: landing in Fernando de Noronha
Posted by: | CommentsWe thought it would be appropriate to open the videos section of D Airfare at one of the most wonderful places in the entire Brazil, the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.
On the usual approach to Fernando de Noronha, airplanes circle the island counterclockwise before they align themselves with runway 12, right in the middle of the island, coming from the west.
This video starts when the plane has nearly finished its flight around the island and its about to align itself with the runway before the final approach. The first part you will see of Noronha is its westernmost point, that has no beaches and few visitors. Then, before the beginning of the runway, you will spot the incredibly beautiful praia do Sancho, our number one beach of the entire Brazil. On the left you can perfectly spot the Morro do Pico, the highest point on the island.
The tiny airport instalations are to the right of the runway. As Noronha’s airport has just the one runway the plane has to taxi back the entire strip before arriving to the terminal. Not a big deal as the airport receives very few flights every day.
Enjoy!
