Gol celebrating Rosario’s anniversary with free flights

Brazilian airline Gol celebrates the anniversaries of the cities it flies to by offering free tickets to its passengers. Rosario in Argentina is celebrating its anniversary in October and if you are planning to fly to or from the city you might as well have a look at the promotional deal.
- Dates of the free flights: 5, 6, and 7 October. Subject to availability.
- Purchases between: 5 and 22 September.

Avianca with good fares to fly Brazil – United States

Avianca is offering good fares to fly to the United States from São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.
There are fares (KXPP00VD) to Miami from 575 USD, to Fort Lauderdale from 545 USD and to New York from 626 USD. Taxes excluded. Fares valid for trips no later than 31 October 2010. Minium stay is three days and maximum 2 months.
It’s a pity the integration between Avianca Brazil and Avianca Colombia has yet to become a reality.

Brazilian airline Gol celebrates the anniversaries of the cities it flies to by offering free tickets to its passengers. The capital of Paraguay, Asuncion, is celebrating its anniversary in August and if you are planning to fly to or from the city you might as well have a look at the promotional deal.
- Dates of the free flights: 17 and 18 August. Subject to availability.
- Purchases until: 3 August.
- Flights with origin or destination: Buenos Aires (Ezeiza), Curitiba, São Paulo (Guarulhos), Rio de Janeiro (Galeão)
fly more using less miles with Gol/Varig and Tam’s frequent flyer programs

Both the frequenty flier programs of the main Brazilian airlines are running similar promotions right now.
With Gol/Varig’s Smiles you can issue domestic tickets using 4,000 miles (Fernando de Noronha is, as usual, excluded from the promotion). International tickets from 6,000 (the Caribbean is excluded too). Tickets must be issued until 30 September for flights between 3 August and 30 September. Valid for Gol and Varig flights.
Tam’s Fidelidade copied its main competitor’s promotion and allows its members to issue domestic flights using 4,000 points. Tickets must be issued until 23 September to fly between 1 August and 30 September.
São Paulo – Barcelona for 310 USD with Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways is offering an incredible 310 USD fare (taxes included) to fly São Paulo – Barcelona return with a stopover in Qatar. Yes, it is a very long flight, the fee is non-refundable and you won’t be able to leave the airport in Qatar. But in almost ten years in Brazil it is the first time I see a flight to Spain for that price.

Tam, a promotion turned into frustration

So much hype for nothing. Customers trying to take advantage of Tam’s promotion over the weekend (Tam fare deals over the weekend) saw their hopes turned into frustration and anger. Tam’s website was unavailable for most of the weekend (I unsuccesfully tried to enter the page a dozen times over Saturday and Sunday). Customers attracted by the promotional deals couldn’t check them out. But even worse, anybody wanting to carry out any operation not related to the flight deals couldn’t do anything either. No sales, no information, no nothing.
Hard to believe the IT department of one of the major Brazilian airlines cannot cope with the visits generated by a sales promotion. A sorry sight.
Tam fare deals over the weekend

Tam is announcing a special promotion beginning tonight at 20:00 and ending at 06:00 on Monday. Return tickets must be purchased and the minimum stay at the destination is two nights. Valid for flights from 6 March and 9 May 2010.
It remains to be seen whether the promotional fares will meet expectations.
a new Azul pass, suffering from hyperinflation

5 March is the deadline if you want to purchase the new edition of Azul’s “Passaporte”. The pass allows for unlimited flights during March and April (initially the pass was sold as being valid only for March; Azul suddely changed its mind and extended the period), with the exception of Fridays and Sundays.
The 2009 of the Passport had a cost of R$499. We presented it at Azul launches its Passport – beware of the restrictions!. The 2010 Passport is suffering from hyperinflation and will set you back R$899.
If the price is not a problem, go to Azul’s website and read carefully all the rules.
We bought the 2009 pass and were quite happy with our purchase. But with the new price it has become a far less appealling deal, at least to us.
TAP and Decolar offering a joint promotion

Online agency Decolar has launched a promotion along with airline TAP for purchases made only this week. The packages including flight and hotel accommodation for 4 nights. Departures from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Brasilia no later than 31 March.
The price of the packages, taxes not included, is 854 USD for Londong, 877 USD for Rome, Madrid and Lisbon and 966 USD for Barcelona.
