Azul, Gol and Tam reprimanded by the authorities

Brazilian airlines Azul, Gol and Tam have been reprimanded by ANAC (the Brazilian civil aviation authority) for including on their sales websites pre-selected optional services (travel insurance). They will be allowed to offer those services but making it very clear they are optional. The customer will have to actively select the services should he wish to purchase them. It was time someone did something about this cunning trick played by the airlines!
Qatar Airways flying to Brazil from 30 May

The agreement between Brazil and Qatar we mentioned a short while ago has produced results in record time. Qatar Airways is announcing it will begin flying to Brazil on 30 May.
It will use a Boeing 777-200 to fly from Doha to Guarulhos airport in São Paulo. It will then continue its journey to Ezeiza airport in Buenos Aires. There will be a daily flight. As soon as we have more details on fares and schedules we will let you know here.

The governments of Brazil and Qatar have signed an agreement making flights between both countries a possibility. Will Qatar Airways land in Brazil before the end of the year? The agreement doesn’t necessarily translate into new flights but it makes things much easier.
Azul selling tickets for Goiania

Azul is selling tickets for its Campinas - Goiania flight, due to start on 3 March. Prices from R$ 119 one way. Azul is no longer launching its new routes with mega deals. The price it is charging is not much different from what you will find Gol is offering for January. For that reason we are no longer cheering each time Azul announces a new route. It is always good news for the consumer, but nothing like the way it used to be.
Tap: new flight from Campinas to Lisbon

Portuguese airline Tap has just announced that from June/July 2010 it will operate three weekly flights from Viracopos airport in Campinas (São Paulo state) to Lisbon in Portugal. What with Guarulhos operating beyond its capacity, Tap has found in Campinas a doorway to increasing its flights to Brazil and accessing the valuable market of the rich interior of the São Paulo state.
new Azul flights to Caldas Novas and Goiânia

Azul is launching a new regular flight from Campinas (São Paulo) to Caldas Novas, on Sundays.
From the beginning of March, there will be new regular flights from Campinas to Goiânia. There will be at least three daily frequencies on each direction.
None of those flights are available for sale yet at Azul’s website.
Azul testing new routes: Belo Horizonte – Salvador

Azul is trying to diversify its routes, avoiding the current unavoidable stopover at Viracopos Airport in Campinas. Azul is going to try and see how a direct flight Belo Horizonte / Salvador performs.
The route will operate as a charter flight during January. From 6 to 27 February it will become a weekly flight on Saturdays. It the route works out, it might become a regular flight.
Singapore Airlines with an eye on Brazil

Our beloved Singapore Airlines is currently contemplating flying to Brazil. It has a São Paulo / Barcelona / Singapore route in mind. The São Paulo / Singapur leg could be flown by the company or by Spanair on a code share agreement – Spanair wants to initiate transoceanic flights.
Aerosur announces Santa Cruz / Asunción / Foz do Iguaçu flight

Bolivian airline Aerosur is planning a flight covering the route Santa Cruz / Asunción / Foz do Iguaçu from March 2010. It will have three weekly frequencies.
flight from Buenos Aires to Salvador de Bahia

Aerolíneas Argentinas are announcing a new weekly flight (on Sundays) from Buenos Aires to Salvador de Bahia. The flight will start on 3 January 2010. It is expected to have two weekly frequencies (Thursdays and Sundays) from March 2010.
