<a href="http://www.infraero.gov.br/"target=" blank">Infraero is the official Brazilian body supposedly responsible for the management of airports in the country. Over the years it has built a notorious reputation for being a tool used by the government to reward its political allies – Brazilian airport infrastructure has suffered as a result.

Infraero is now at Twitter: <a href="http://www.twitter.com/canalinfraero"target=" blank">@canalinfraero. What we have seen so far is that its Twitter profile will be mostly used to excel the achievements of the government and for that reason we won’t be following it.

The Brazilian authorities have launched Hora de Viajar (Travel Time), a website with useful information related to air travel in Brazil. As usual, the site is available in Portuguese only. The information is structured in three blocks: before boarding the plane, during the flight, and after leaving the plane.

We can only hope some of the scenarios described in the texts will one day become a reality.

The website at large is an excellent source of information on internet availability at airports throughout the world, including the Brazilian ones.

As many other 2.0 initiatives, the success of a site relies largely on the collaborations from its users. In the case of at large, and when it comes to Brazilian airports, the amount of information is alarmingly scarce. An airport with the traffic of Congonhas, in São Paulo, has no reviews. Guarulhos, also in São Paulo, the busiest airport in the country, has just the one review. We hope in time data for Brazilian airports will become available.

And since we are mentioning internet access, anybody remembers Infraero’s promise to make free wi-fi access available at the major Brazilian airports from December 2008 (Brazilian airports to offer free wi-fi)? It is a shame part of the Brazilian media is always eager to herald the announcements of the Brazilian government and lazy when it comes to find out whether promises turned into facts.

Copyright © 2008 D Airfare. Visit the original article at http://www.dairfare.com/links-kayak/. If you are reading this on a page other than the D Airfare it is an unauthorized use of the blog material.

<a href="http://www.kayak.com/"target="blank">Kayak is one of the most useful international aggregators around.

On its home page you can fill the spaces with your dates, origin and destination to search for a flight. On the results page you will find the airfares the system has found along with links to the airline’s websites or consolidator’s pages where the fares were found.

The option <a href="http://www.kayak.com/buzz"target=" blank">Buzz takes you to a very useful page, where you can define a city or airport and carry out an extensive search, or a search limited to regions of the world, times of the year or cost. This tool uses information gathered from similar searches done on the system by other users of Kayak. For that reason, there is more data on the most popular routes.

You can register for free and do searches with flexible dates. You can also subscribe to Fare Alert and receive notifications every time the fares for a given route fall in price.

Excellent as it may be, we do not advice you to solely rely on this website as your source of information. It is essential you always visit the airlines’ own websites for they often have exclusive promotions Kayak and other consolidators and aggregators have no access too (that is the case, for instance, with Brazilian airline GOL).

If you are reading this on a page other than the D Airfare it is an unauthorized use of the blog material.

Alitalia has announced a <a href="http://www.aerolatinnews.com/index.php?sector=noticias&noticia=2399"target=" blank">substantial reduction on the number of flights it operates. The airline is up to its neck in debt and while it awaits for the new controllers, it had no other alternative but to cut flights. A temporary reduction is being mentioned, but it is almost certain its flight network will be substantially reduced once CAI, its new controller, is in control. If you are flying Alitalia, we encourage you to confirm all your flights.

Life for the new Alitalia will be no bed of roses. As CAI has among its members the owners of Air One, which in turn had a partnership with Lufthansa, the German airline is making a move and creating an Italian subsidiary: Lufthansa Italia. Other companies are after the slots left behind by Alitalia.

Your ticket states that you leave from EZE and arrive in GRU, then you have to get to CGH from where your flight to BPS departs. And you are totally lost.

In World-Airport-Codes you will find a complete listing of airport codes throughout the world. You can consult them by country name (Brazil), by country abbreviation (BR), by city name (Porto Alegre), by airport name (Congonhas) or by airport code (GRU).

For a quick check, American Airlines has a useful and simple <a href="http://www.aa.com/apps/utility/AirportCode.jhtml"target=" blank">City / Airport Lookup tool.
